Land borders of Cote d'Ivoire now opened to the General Public.

la Côte d'Ivoire's government has announced the reopening of land borders that have been closed since March 2020. From today Wednesday 15th February 2023 midnight, the Ivory Coast's government has opened the land borders to Ghana, Liberia, Burkina Faso, Mali, and Guinea.

"The Council adopted a consent order opening the land borders of Côte d'Ivoire," announced the Ivorian government's spokesperson, Amadou Coulibaly, at the conclusion of a council of ministers held this Wednesday, February 15, 2023, in Abidjan-Plateau under the chairmanship of the head of state, Alassane Ouattara.

"This decree establishes the opening of land borders on Tuesday, February 15, 2023, at midnight," he said.

The government spokesperson recalled that, in order to combat the spread of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the government decided on March 20, 2020, to close Côte d'Ivoire's land, sea, and air borders to all human trafficking as of March 22, 2020.

According to Amadou Coulibaly, in view of the favorable evolution of the global health situation and the resumption of economic activity, the air and sea borders have been opened.

Ivory Coast, also known as Côte d'Ivoire, officially the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, is a country on the southern coast of West Africa. Its political capital is Yamoussoukro, in the country's center, while its largest city and economic capital centre is the port city of Abidjan. It borders Guinea to the northwest, Liberia to the west, Mali to the northwest, Burkina Faso to the northeast, Ghana to the east, and the Gulf of Guinea (Atlantic Ocean) to the south. Its official language is French.
